The governor’s office of the eastern Turkish province of Batman has announced that three neighborhood the heads (mukhtars) and one village head have been removed from office on terror charges.

According to the Bianet, the mukhtars of Çay, Korik and Bağlar neighborhoods and the head of Kösetarla village have been dismissed on the ground that there are ongoing lawsuits and investigations against them.

Trustees have been appointed in their place by the Batman Governorship.

The move came days after the Turkish government removed the mayors of Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van for alleged ties to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the US.
