An indictment prepared by an İzmir prosecutor seeks aggravated life sentence for Mehmet Mezher Gülen, a nephew of Turkish scholar Fethullah Gülen, whom the government pinned on for the July 15 coup attempt.

The indictment also seeks up to 15 years in jail for each of 13 people who were detained along with Mezher Gülen on May 17. Gülen’s many other relatives were also detained and consecutively arrested after July 15.

While the scholar denies any involvement, his nephew and other suspects are accused of leading and being a member of a terrorist organization.
