Turkey-based Women Writers Association (KYD) Spokesperson Sevim Korkmaz Dinç was detained by anti-terror police as the government tightens its grip over intelligentsia during post-coup emergency rule, on Thursday.

Author of three books, Dinç is a member of global literary organization, PEN.

According to Turkish media, Dinç was detained at 7 on Thursday morning, at his home in İzmir’s Narlıdere district. Dinç was deprived of seeing her lawyer for 5 days.

Representatives from nine international and Turkish journalism organizations, including PEN International and Reporters Without Borders, came together in front of Silivri Prison on Dec. 10 in support of 146 journalists who are behind bars in Turkey.

Turkey has also been keeping, among others, renowned author Aslı Erdoğan and linguist Necmiye Alpay in jail over terrorism charges. Turkish government introduced state of emergency immediately after a failed coup on July 15, this year and arrested 40,000 people over coup and terrorism charges.
