Demet Evgar, a Turkish actress, took to Twitter on Saturday to call on authorities to release an imprisoned pregnant woman from prison.

“Please Hear Her Voice! Don’t let her give birth in prison,” Evgar tweeted.

32-year-old Huriye Acun has been sent to prison in Konya province over alleged links to Turkey’s Gulen group, accused by the government of masterminding a coup attempt.

The group denies any involvement.

She is 28 weeks pregnant.

According to the Turkish media, Acun was sentenced to 9 years and 4 months in prison in 2017 by a Kastamonu court and then was released on prohibition. She was reportedly re-arrested yesterday and sent to Konya E Type Closed prison to serve the remainder of her prison sentence.

She was charged with using ByLock, once widely available online and considered by the government to be a tool of secret communication among supporters of the movement since a failed coup attempt in 2016.
