Turkey’s Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTÜK) has delivered a court ruling to newspapers, television and websites in the early hours of New Year’s Day, announcing a broadcast and publication ban on reports relating to an armed attack on a popular nightclub in the Ortaköy district of İstanbul.

According to Turkish social media users, no internet restrictions have so far been detected.

According to İstanbul Governor Vasip Şahin, at least 35 people were killed in the armed attack carried out at the popular nightclub Reina, which overlooks the Bosporus and is known for its celebrity clientele.
