Turkey has replaced eight mayors from the Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) with pro-Erdogan trustees as part of a widening crackdown on elected officials from the party.

The mayors of Batman, Ergani, Eğil, Lice, Silvan, Güroymak, Halfeli and Gökçedağ cities dismissed from their jobs, the interior ministry announced.
