A video footage shows the moment AFP photojournalist Bülent Kılıç tells police “I can’t breathe” while being pressed down on his neck by an officer in Beyoğlu during Istanbul’s Pride march.

Kılıç was reportedly trying to cover the LGBTI pride parade scheduled to take place in Beyoğlu district, which has been banned by The İstanbul Governor’s Office.

The 2014 LGBTI pride parade was the last one that was allowed by the Turkish authorities. All the following parades scheduled to date have been banned by the Turkish government over “security concerns.”
