Two Adana lawyers, identified as M.K. and M.A., were sentenced to 9 years in prison each on accusations of membership to a terrorist organization, on Friday.

M.K. and M.A. denied accusations and pleaded not guilty during the final hearing on Friday while the court in charge gave the pair 9-year prison term, according to state-run Anadolu news agency.

Turkish government accuses Gulen movement of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt while the latter denies involvement. The government considers the movement as a terrorist organization and has arrested more than 56,000 people over ties to the group.
