Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) rectorate has banned LGBT march, scheduled to be held by a organized by a number of student clubs, due to post-coup emergency rules.
A statement by the organizer clubs revealed that the rectorate had stated that “all kinds of collective demonstrations are banned under emergency rules.”
The last year’s march had also been banned due to what the rectorate said security threats.
Turkey survived a military coup attempt on July 15 that killed over 240 people and wounded more than a thousand others. Immediately after the putsch, the government announced a State of Emergency that is still in power.
