The 24-year-old university student, identified with his initials B.Ö., was taken into police custody where he was stripped half naked, for wearing “hero” T-shirt on Thursday.
Antalya police B.Ö. in the central neighborhood of Kaleici for the hero T-shirt on him, and took him to the police station in Yenikapi district. According to Dogan news agency, B.Ö. was forced to take off the T-shirt in police custody, leaving him half-naked during interrogation.
The T-shirts bearing the word “hero” have become a contentious issue when Gökhan Güçlü, one of the suspects on trial for an assassination attempt against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the night of the July 15, 2016 failed coup, was thrown out of the courtroom for wearing a T-shirt bearing the word “hero” because it caused tension between the parties during the hearing. At least 38 people have been detained for wearing hero T-shirts since mid-July.
B.Ö. said he has no links to the Gulen movement, which the government accuses of leading the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. The movement denies involvement in failed coup.
Following a medical examination, B.Ö. was referred to the court in early Friday.
