Ten people were detained during a police raid on an apartment in Kayseri’s central district of Melikgazi.

Media reported that police raided the apartment upon the information that followers of the Gulen movement were having weekly meetings over there. During the raid, 10 people were rounded up and an ensuing ID check revealed that the detainees had been earlier jailed pending trial over Gulen links.

Hurriyet newspaper said another 2 people were detained as the investigation deepened.

The detainees include 5 teachers who were earlier dismissed from their jobs, 3 businessmen and a firefighter.

Turkish government accuses the movement of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt while the latter denies involvement.

Nearly 150,000 people have been detained and 90,000 arrested over ties to the movement since the summer of 2016.
