Turkish police have thwarted an attempt by LGBT activists to hold a picnic at public park in İstanbul.
A video posted by İstanbul LGBTİ Twitter account shows the moment police officers forcing tens of picnickers out of the Macka Park, one of the few major city parks in Istanbul.
“Here is the moment police assault LGBT+ people having a picnic at Macka Park. The video reveals heavy police violence and thus may trigger [you],” the account twitted.
The Turkish government has banned all the LGBT-related organization in the country since 2014. The 2014 LGBTI pride parade in İstanbul was the last one that was allowed by the Turkish authorities. All the following parades have been banned over “security concerns.”
