Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that teams seized 490.5 kilograms of skunk, 71 kilograms of heroin, and 1 million 446 thousand drug pills during last week’s operations in Istanbul. Police arrested nine suspects in coordinated raids across Fatih, Çatalca, Beylikdüzü, Avcılar, and Esenyurt. Yerlikaya emphasized, “We are fighting this battle not only for our country but for all of humanity.”

Yerlikaya shared the update on his official X account, highlighting the scope of the anti-drug operations carried out across the city last week.

1.5 MILLION DRUG PILLS SEIZED

In his post detailing the operation, Minister Yerlikaya said: “With our operations in Istanbul last week; we seized 490.5 kg of skunk, 71 kg of heroin, and 1 million 446 thousand drug pills, preventing them from being offered to people and harming public health.”

9 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Coordinated by the EGM Narcotic Crimes Department and the Istanbul Police Department, teams from the Narcotic Crimes and Intelligence Branches arrested nine suspects in operations across Fatih, Çatalca, Beylikdüzü, Avcılar, and Esenyurt.

Yerlikaya stressed that their mission is to protect every citizen—especially young people—from drugs, calling it a crime against humanity. He added, “We are fighting this battle not only for our country but for all humanity. I congratulate those who contributed.”
