The body of the final martyr among the 20 soldiers aboard the C-130 military cargo plane that crashed over Georgia while returning from Azerbaijan to Türkiye has been recovered.
A Turkish Air Force C-130 military cargo plane departing from Azerbaijan for Turkey crashed yesterday near the Georgia–Azerbaijan border, killing twenty soldiers in the accident.
Search and rescue operations continued through the night at the wreckage of the Turkish Air Force (THK) C-130 military cargo plane that crashed yesterday in Georgia’s Kakheti region.
Efforts to reach the downed C-130 in the mountainous terrain of Signagi Municipality resumed early in the morning, supported by helicopters, and continued into the second day.
The body of the last martyr has been found
The search for the crashed plane in Georgia concluded today, and the body of the final martyr has been recovered.
In a statement, the Ministry of National Defense said, “As a result of the search conducted in the wreckage of our military cargo plane that crashed on the Azerbaijan–Georgia border, the precious body of our 20th martyr was found.”
‘BIG YUSUF’ WILL BRING OUR MARTYRS
Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran announced that the remains of the martyrs aboard the plane that crashed on the Azerbaijan–Georgia border will be brought to Türkiye. Duran noted that Türkiye’s A-400M transport aircraft, known as “Big Yusuf,” has been assigned to carry the martyrs home.
The plane’s black box was brought to Türkiye
President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made the following statement about the military cargo plane that crashed on the Georgia–Azerbaijan border during his party’s Extended Provincial Chairmen Meeting at the AK Party Conference Hall: “The black box of our plane has been found and investigations have been initiated.”
In this context, the black box from the crashed military cargo plane has been brought to Türkiye. The fuselage and engine components, along with all surrounding evidence, will be examined. Every detail that may help clarify the accident is being documented at the scene. The cause of the crash will be determined once teams complete their fieldwork and perform technical analyses.
