An imprisoned Kurdish man who has both hands amputated at the wrist after being electrocuted by a high voltage line in Şanlıurfa, has been released after spending some thirty days in prison, according to HDP deputy Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu

The man, named Nejdet Erik, was sent to İzmir Menemen R type prison in early July 2022 as part of an investigation into a brawl that led to the death of his neighbor some seven months ago.

Erik is accused of being responsible for the death of his neighbor in his hometown of Siverek.
