Ekrem Yaşlı, a 61-year-old Kurdish man, was physically assaulted for speaking Kurdish at a public hospital in Çanakkale province, the pro-Kurdish HDP deputy Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu confirmed.

“Some people still ask why there is a Kurdish problem in Turkey,” Gergerlioğlu tweeted.

The Kurdish man was reportedly left bleeding from above the eye and head following the assault after his assailant heard him speaking Kurdish to his wife at a university hospital in Çanakkale.
