Nedim Şener, a pro-government columnist, said during a live interview that Gülenists are worse than the COVID-19 outbreak, which has recently been declared a global pandemic by World Health Organization (WHO).

“Coronovirus is a disease that may be dealth with, someday. But Feto [Gulenism] is not. It is an infidelity that does not leave one’s soul until after death. It is even worse that Coronovirus. It has no cure. There are still hundreds of thousands of pro-Feto people within this society,” Şener said.

“FETÖ is a derogatory term coined by ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to refer to the Gülen group, accused of mounting a botched coup attempt in 2016.

The group denies any involvement.

Following the coup attempt, the AKP government launched a massive crackdown on followers of the group under the pretext of an anti-coup fight as a result of which more than 150,000 people were removed from state jobs while in excess of 30,000 others were jailed and some 600,000 people have been investigated on allegations of terrorism.
