Four members of a Turkish family were killed in a car crash while driving back from an Erzurum prison where another member of the family is being held as a post-coup prisoner, Aktif Haber online news portal said Thursday.

Four members of the Aydin family died while a woman from the same family, identified as Kevser Aydin, was heavily injured after a traffic accident on Erzurum-Giresun highway.

Aktif Haber said the family were coming back from a visit to Kevser’s husband, jailed over links to the Gulen movement.

Turkish government blames the Gulen movement for the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the latter denies involvement.

The arrestee’s parents Ibrahim Aydin and Gulyer Aydin; his grandmother Ayse Aydin and brother Muhammed Aydin were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, his wife Kevser was taken to Erzurum Ataturk University’s Medical Faculty Hospital following the accident.

Left from the family was a selfie taken hours before the accident when they stopped to eat at a roadside restaurant.
