The pro-government Sabah daily has established a hotline to receive tips about the the Europe-based followers of the Gülen Movement, which the President along with top state officials pinned the blame on for the July 15 coup attempt.
Sabah Avrupa, the newspaper’s special edition for Turkish expats in Germany called on its readers to snitch on Gulenists through its hotline reachable on WhatsApp, a fixed line and an email.
“Don’t imagine that we forgot you. Dear our European compatriots: Report those traitors who have persecuted you, let us expose them…” the daily said on its front page on June 20, 2017.
Sabah’s announcement came as the second hotline created by a pro-government media outlet. Earlier, Akit TV established a similar line to expose Gulenists at home.
Earlier in August, another online portal, —fetoihbar.net–which was set up at the initiative of the Turkish government called on people to lodge complaints about the people affiliated with the movement
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on multiple occasions, called on Turkish people to report followers of movement in their surroundings to the police and prosecutors’ offices so that they can be prosecuted for their links to the movement.
